Iranian National Released from Swedish Prison – Politics Update

In a recent statement, Nasser Kanaani celebrated the liberation of Hamid Nouri, an Iranian national who had been imprisoned in Sweden under false pretenses. Kanaani highlighted the role of Iran’s “diplomacy of might” in securing Nouri’s release, emphasizing the unwavering efforts of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Judiciary, and other organizations in restoring justice.

After 1,680 days of unjust imprisonment, Nouri has finally returned home, thanks to the diplomatic and political initiatives led by late President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian. Kanaani expressed gratitude to Oman for facilitating Nouri’s release and pledged to continue advocating for other Iranian citizens detained abroad.

Nouri’s arrest in 2019 and subsequent life sentence by a Swedish court, based on unfounded allegations from the MKO terrorist group, sparked outrage in Iran. The court’s verdict was deemed illegal and a violation of human rights. Nouri vehemently denies the accusations of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

This successful outcome underscores the importance of perseverance and strategic diplomacy in protecting the rights and welfare of Iranian citizens abroad. Iran remains committed to ensuring justice and fairness for all its citizens, no matter where they may be.
