Former Iranian Judiciary Official Unjustly Imprisoned in Sweden Released and Returned to Iran
The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed the release of Hamid Nouri, a former judiciary official illegally imprisoned in Sweden on politically motivated charges. Nouri’s release was achieved through diplomatic efforts, with Iran firmly supporting the rights of Iranians and securing national interests. After enduring 1,680 days of detention, Nouri has returned to Iran with the efforts of various authorities and the support of President Ebrahim Raeisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
Iran’s top human rights official, Kazem Gharibabadi, announced Nouri’s release, attributing it to collaborative efforts within the Judiciary, Ministry of Intelligence, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Nouri was wrongly convicted of “war crimes and crimes against humanity” based on fabricated allegations by the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) terrorist group, leading to his unjust imprisonment in Sweden for three and a half years. Despite the challenges, the release of Nouri highlights Iran’s dedication to securing the rights of its citizens abroad.
