The leaders of Ecuador, Ivory Coast, Kenya, and Somalia are set to join Western heads of state at a conference in Switzerland to discuss peace in Ukraine, with Russian President Vladimir Putin notably absent. Over 50 heads of state, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, will gather at the Burgenstock resort overlooking Lake Lucerne, alongside European bodies and the United Nations.

Key players like U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris will attend, while countries like China, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia have sent representatives. The conference aims to address nuclear safety, humanitarian assistance, and global food security in light of the conflict. However, without Russia’s presence, critics doubt the meeting’s effectiveness.

Despite recent gains by Russian troops in Ukraine, Zelenskyy continues to push for diplomatic solutions. The event serves as a platform for Ukraine and its allies to highlight Russia’s breach of international law and advocate for the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
