Defiant Afghan Women: Stories of Protest and Repression

After the Taliban imposed strict restrictions on Afghan women, some bravely protested against these new rules. However, these peaceful demonstrations were met with violence, leading to arrests, abuse, and threats of death by stoning. Three courageous women defied the Taliban’s oppressive regime and shared their harrowing experiences of standing up for their rights amidst extreme repression.
Marching through Kabul
When the Taliban seized power, Zakia, the sole provider for her family, found herself unemployed. She joined a protest to express her frustration but faced violent reprisals. Mahmood and Parwana, also activists, were arrested and subjected to brutal treatment. Despite the risks, these brave women continued to fight for their rights in the face of adversity.
