200 screened for cervical, breast cancer at Varthur UPHC

A recent two-day free screening camp at the Varthur UPHC in Bengaluru saw almost 200 individuals getting screened for cervical and breast cancer. Organized by Vikasa Tarangini Mahila Arogya Vikas in partnership with Whitefield Rising, the camp aimed to raise awareness and promote early detection.

Prior to the event, volunteers distributed informational pamphlets across the local community, resulting in a higher turnout on the second day. Participants underwent cervical cancer screening and received training on self-breast examination. Ten individuals with concerning results were referred for further evaluation by the onsite gynecologist, with additional referrals to the KR Puram government hospital.

Organizers ensured follow-up care for those needing it, with the UPHC staff recording contact information for ongoing support. Approximately 40 participants also received medication for minor infections. The initiative highlights the importance of regular screenings and proactive healthcare measures in combating cancer.
