In a recent attack, Yemen’s Houthi rebels launched two anti-ship cruise missiles, hitting the M/V Verbena in the Gulf of Aden. The commercial ship was set on fire, with a civilian mariner severely wounded and receiving medical treatment.

The Verbena, a Palauan-flagged vessel carrying wood from Malaysia to Italy, reported onboard damage and fires. The Houthi attack is part of their ongoing campaign amid international conflicts.

The rebels also targeted two other ships in the Red Sea, launching ballistic missiles and causing minor damage. The UK Maritime Trade Operations reported additional attacks, with the Houthis claiming responsibility.

In response, Central Command destroyed Houthi drones and patrol boats in the Red Sea. The institute also condemned the rebels’ detention of aid workers, urging their immediate release.

The Houthis’ aggressive actions in the region continue to disrupt maritime trade and endanger civilians, prompting international concern and calls for peace.
