US to send fighter jet squadrons to Ukraine – Zelensky

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced that the US will provide “squadrons” of fighter jets to Ukraine as part of a new 10-year security agreement. The deal, signed by Zelensky and US President Joe Biden at the G7 summit, includes support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia through the supply of weapons, troop training, intelligence sharing, and investment in defense industries.

Zelensky emphasized that the agreement demonstrates America’s strong support for Ukraine’s fight against Russia, highlighting provisions for the delivery of fighter squadrons, including F-16s. Biden confirmed commitments to supply Patriot systems to Ukraine, prioritizing Ukraine’s needs over other countries.

While Ukraine awaits the Patriots for military defense, the delivery of F-16s has faced delays due to training complications and lack of suitable airfields. Despite Russian warnings of potential retaliation against F-16 use, Zelensky remains optimistic about a positive outcome for Ukraine in the near future.

This strategic partnership between the US and Ukraine signifies a significant step towards strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities against Russian aggression, showcasing a united front against common threats.
