Israeli Claims Featured as Sponsored Links on Google Search for UNRWA

The UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) has refuted Israeli government allegations, labeling them as “unrealistic,” according to Anadolu news agency. UNRWA spokesman, Jonathan Fowler, dismissed claims of Hamas infiltration into the agency as baseless.

Israel’s sponsored links on Google search results for UNRWA make unsubstantiated claims, including accusing UNRWA employees of involvement in a 2023 operation by Hamas. Despite ongoing investigations, no evidence has been found implicating UNRWA employees in the attack near Gaza.

Google, after reviewing the ads, found no policy violations regarding the content. Additionally, reports revealed an Israeli influence operation using fake social media accounts to spread false allegations against UNRWA.

This manipulation includes creating fake news sites and accounts to promote misleading information, targeting UNRWA and its employees. The operation began during the Gaza conflict and remains active, disseminating content to influence public opinion.
