Exciting news from the G7 summit as Ukraine and Japan sign a 10-year security agreement, announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This marks Ukraine’s 16th agreement with allies since the Russian invasion over two years ago, showcasing the long-term support from countries such as Britain, France, and Germany.
Under this new agreement, Japan will provide Ukraine with $4.5 billion in 2024 and continue to offer support throughout the next decade. The deal includes security and defense assistance, humanitarian aid, as well as technical and financial cooperation.
Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to Japan for their “unwavering solidarity” and commitment to upholding international law. This partnership demonstrates the strong bond between the two countries in the face of global challenges.
