Sudan Army successfully repels el-Fasher assault; RSF commander killed

The war in Sudan has led to a dire humanitarian crisis, with an estimated 756,000 people facing severe food shortages by September.

Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched a failed attack in North Darfur, resulting in significant casualties, including a senior RSF commander. The conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and RSF has led to over 14,000 deaths and displaced millions.

Many Sudanese have joined the armed forces to combat the RSF atrocities, including Musa Adam and former RSF officer Abu-Alqassim Mohammed. The ongoing violence in Darfur has displaced thousands and resulted in mass graves and burned villages, causing immense suffering for the affected communities.

The international community, led by the UN Security Council, has called for a ceasefire, humanitarian access, and an arms embargo on Sudan. The United States has pledged $315 million in emergency aid to prevent a looming famine.

As the situation worsens, urgent action is needed to address the crisis and prevent further loss of life in Sudan.
