North Korea has reportedly sent over 10,000 shipping containers filled with nearly 5 million artillery shells to Russia, according to South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik in a report by Bloomberg News. This move is part of a growing trend of military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, with Russian leader Vladimir Putin expected to request even more ammunition during his next visit to Pyongyang.
The exchange between the two countries also includes dozens of ballistic missiles sent from North Korea to Russia. In return for the ammunition, Russia has provided North Korea with technologies for spy satellites, tanks, and aircraft. This partnership has raised concerns, especially as it may surpass the amount of military aid sent to Ukraine by the US and the EU.
The increased supply of ammunition has allowed Russia to support its forces in the conflict in Ukraine, while aid for Ukraine has faced delays in the US Congress. This development highlights the evolving dynamics of international relations and the impact of military alliances on global stability.
