Ein Samia: The Last Stand of Palestinian Families
For the past 50 years, Khaled and Nasser Ghneimat have called ‘Ein Samia in the occupied West Bank their home. Despite facing constant harassment and threats from Israeli settlers, they refused to leave. However, in mid-May, the two brothers, along with 36 other families, were forcibly evicted, marking the end of Palestinian presence in the village.
Returning home one day, the Ghneimat brothers found their residences taken over by settlers, with all their belongings gone. The harassment escalated with attacks on their livestock and property. Despite filing complaints, the authorities did nothing to protect them.
Since Israel’s occupation, over 200,000 hectares of land have been seized, affecting Bedouin communities like ‘Ein Samia. The Ghneimats now live in tents, relying on donations, and fear for their future. Settler attacks have intensified, leaving them and others vulnerable.
As the world’s attention remains on Gaza, the plight of families like the Ghneimats cannot be forgotten. Their struggles continue as they fight for justice and a life free from fear.
