Is ANC leadership ‘sellouts’ for partnering with DA?

As the ANC considers forming a government of national unity (GNU) with the DA, opposition to the partnership has labeled the governing party as “sellouts.” The MK Party, EFF, and some members within the ANC have expressed their disapproval of the talks.

Last week, ANC members, including former president Jacob Zuma’s daughter Thuthukile, protested outside the ANC national executive committee meeting in Boksburg under the theme #NotWithTheDA, stating, “We cannot support a coalition with a party that represents white interests and opposes ANC’s transformation agenda.”

Recent reports suggest that President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to be re-elected with the support of the DA in parliament, following a deal struck between the two parties during the first sitting of the National Assembly. This alliance has elicited mixed reactions and sparked debate within the political landscape of South Africa.
