Government Slashes Petrol and Diesel Prices Ahead of Eidul Azha

The government has announced a significant reduction in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) for the next fortnight. Petrol prices have been decreased by Rs10.2 per litre, while HSD prices have been lowered by Rs2.33 per litre. The new prices stand at Rs258.16 for petrol and Rs267.89 for HSD.

This drop comes as a gift from the Prime Minister ahead of the upcoming Eidul Azha holiday. The decrease in prices is a result of the decline in international prices of petroleum products. In the last two weeks, the prices of petrol and HSD have dropped by $3.75 and $2.7 per barrel, respectively.

Despite the reduction in prices, the government is still collecting significant revenue through taxes and levies on petroleum products. The reduction in prices will have a direct impact on middle- and lower-middle-class families who rely on petrol for their transportation needs.

Overall, the reduction in prices is a welcome relief for consumers and comes at a time when many are preparing to celebrate the festive holiday of Eidul Azha.
