Gallant: Israel Won’t Join Lebanon Committee With Paris

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has rejected France’s proposal for a trilateral framework to ease tensions with Lebanon, citing France’s alleged hostile policies towards Israel. Gallant expressed his disapproval of France’s actions on the X platform, stating that Israel will not participate in any security committee on the northern border if France is involved.

An Israeli official revealed that the initial idea of a U.S-French-Israeli framework was proposed by Israel, but after France barred them from an arms exhibition, Israel has decided to only discuss Lebanon’s file with Washington.

French President Emmanuel Macron had suggested collaboration between France, the U.S, and Israel to de-escalate tensions on the Israeli-Lebanese border. Macron’s proposal involves ceasing attacks on both sides and militants withdrawing from the border.

Diplomatic sources hint at a possible tripartite American-French-Israeli summit to halt the conflict in Gaza and South Lebanon, showcasing ongoing efforts to prevent further escalation in the region.
