The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, emphasizes the government’s commitment to reforming the mining sector by deploying 350 additional operatives to the mining marshals. These operatives are tasked with combatting illegal mining activities across the country.
During the Passing Out Parade for the new operatives, the minister praised the collaboration between the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in reducing illegal mineral haulage and unlicensed mining operations.
With the induction of the second batch of 350 mining marshals, the total number deployed nationwide has now reached 2,570, showcasing the government’s efforts to enhance operational effectiveness in the sector. NSCDC Commandant-General, Dr. Abubakar Audi, highlighted the intensive training program the operatives underwent to strengthen their operations against illegal miners.
