Turkey and the US have finally sealed the deal for the delivery of new American F-16 fighter jets after difficult negotiations, as announced by the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey. The exact number of jets has not been disclosed, but earlier reports suggested that Turkey had requested 40 new F-16 Block 70 fighter jets along with upgrade kits for its existing fleet of 79 aircrafts.
However, the delivery of these new fighters might face delays until 2028 due to a high volume of orders, as reported by Hurriyet daily. The signing of the supply contract marks a significant milestone in enhancing Turkey’s defense capabilities and strengthening its military partnership with the US.
Both countries are set to further discuss the details of the agreement, signaling a positive development in their diplomatic relations. The acquisition of new F-16 fighter jets will undoubtedly boost Turkey’s air force capabilities and ensure its readiness to address security challenges in the region.
