Tragic Extortion Scheme Leads to Teen’s Death in Hokkaido

In a shocking revelation by Hokkaido police, a 21-year-old woman and her accomplices used social media to extort a 17-year-old high school girl from Rumoi. The victim, Runa Murayama, was pushed off a bridge and killed in a disturbing turn of events.

The suspects coerced Murayama into transferring money or goods through electronic payment systems after she used a photo of one of the suspects without permission on social media. The suspects then confined Murayama in a car before pushing her off the Kamui bridge in Asahikawa.

While initial charges were for confinement, the two women involved have now been arrested for murder. The suspects, all under 20 years old, have not admitted to the allegations.

Murayama’s family reported her missing in April, and her body was found in May. The police are investigating the relationship between the suspects and the victim.
