Argentinian President Milei Heads to G7 Summit with Positive Developments
President Javier Milei departed for the G7 Summit in Italy after a series of positive developments, including the Senate’s approval of the Bases Law bill and an extension of the currency swap with China. Milei intends to engage in discussions with key world leaders at the summit, focusing on Argentina’s potential as a leader in artificial intelligence development.
The Presidential ARG-01 aircraft, carrying Milei and his team, is set to arrive in Italy for the exclusive gathering. Milei’s sister and Presidential Secretary, Karina Milei, joined the delegation as well. Despite Argentina not being a G7 member, Milei has been invited to speak at the event, emphasizing the country’s AI capabilities.
Amidst the celebrations for the bill approval and currency swap extension, the Central Bank of Argentina expressed relief over the agreement with China. The BCRA plans to gradually reduce the swap over the coming months and completely settle it by mid-2026, easing economic pressures.
