IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa addresses the media at the IFP Head Office in Durban regarding coalitions, amidst the ANC’s decision to recall eThekwini mayor Mxolisi Kaunda.
The IFP clarifies that the ANC’s stripping of eThekwini metro’s Mxolisi Kaunda as mayor was unrelated to their coalition formation with the ANC, DA, and National Freedom Party (NFP).
During the announcement of their decision to enter a government of national unity (GNU), IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa expressed respect for the ANC’s recall of Kaunda.
Hlabisa emphasized that the IFP did not use local government issues to negotiate at a national/provincial level, despite their dissatisfaction with eThekwini, reflecting their commitment to voters’ interests.
