The BJP has raised concerns over the arrest warrant issued for senior leader B S Yediyurappa, linking it to a tit-for-tat response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s court appearance for a defamation case. BJP lawmakers criticized the government’s inaction for four months since the POCSO case was first filed against Yediyurappa in March. They find it suspicious that the arrest warrant comes after the home minister called the individual who filed the case mentally unstable and mentioned several similar cases against bureaucrats and politicians.
The BJP expects the case to be closed with a ‘B’ report and believes the Congress is deliberately targeting them. The case involves a deceased individual’s son filing the complaint, and despite Yediyurappa’s absence and willingness to cooperate, the police are fast-tracking the arrest. The BJP views this as a politically motivated move by the Congress to undermine their party.
Despite Yediyurappa’s absence in New Delhi, the BJP challenges the urgency of the arrest warrant, questioning the sudden haste after months of inaction. They perceive it as an attempt by the Congress to drag them into legal battles.
