COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — High school freshman Alexandra Bui constructed a jumbo mail-order catalog replica to convey her research on the Sears catalog’s impact on Black shoppers in the Jim Crow South as part of National History Day.
The annual campaign empowers students to examine the past, with this year’s theme focusing on “Turning Points in History.” Over half a million students participate, culminating in a national competition.
