Yemen’s Security and Intelligence Service recently uncovered a significant espionage network that had been operating within government departments for eight years. Major General Abdul Hakim Hashem Al-Khaiwani revealed that the network collected sensitive information and carried out espionage activities on behalf of foreign intelligence services.
Reports suggest that the US-Israeli led network recruited government officials to influence decision-making and infiltrate state agencies. The spies also engaged in activities aimed at compromising Yemen’s health and education systems.
The network provided intelligence to the US and Israeli militaries, aiding in attacks on Yemeni infrastructure. This comes as Yemen fights against Israeli aggression, with over 37,000 casualties in Palestinian territory since last year.
Yemen retaliated by targeting Israeli-linked ships and expanded attacks to include US and British vessels. The situation remains tense as airstrikes by these countries continue.
