WHO confirms rare human case of bird flu in India

This is the second case of human bird flu infection reported by India to WHO, with the first case in 2019. The agency warned of potential future cases due to the prevalence of the virus in poultry.

Bird flu is transmitted through direct contact with infected animals or contaminated environments and can cause mild to severe respiratory illnesses in humans. Recently, a Mexican man died from a strain of bird flu previously unseen in humans.

WHO advises the public to avoid contact with live poultry and high-risk environments to prevent transmission of avian influenza viruses.
