Dangerous Heatwaves Forecasted For the US

The US is forecasted to be hit with extreme heat this week. Temperatures are expected to soar to 110 degrees in Phoenix, Arizona, and above 90 degrees in many other states across the country, including California, Nevada, and Texas.
More than 11,000 Americans have died from heat-related causes since 1979, and last year alone saw about 120,000 emergency room visits due to extreme heat. The report highlights the dangers of rising temperatures, with homes becoming unsafe due to lack of proper insulation and cooling systems.
“The home environment can actually be a substantial risk in and of itself,” said Jaime Madrigano, a public health researcher. “During extreme heat events, more people die in their homes than in other types of places.”
A study published last year showed that a heatwave-related blackout in Phoenix could potentially lead to more than 12,000 deaths.
It is crucial for individuals to take necessary precautions and stay cool during this heatwave to avoid any heat-related illnesses or fatalities.
