Six new MLAs sworn in Himachal Pradesh

Six new legislators were sworn in as members of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, including former minister Sudhir Sharma and Congress MLA Anuradha Rana. The newly elected members were congratulated by Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, who encouraged them to raise issues of public welfare in the assembly.

In the recent bypolls, Congress won four seats while BJP secured two, impacting the balance of power in the assembly. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur shared their perspectives on the election results, emphasizing the importance of analyzing the outcomes.

Notably, three of the new legislators are first-timers, with Anuradha Rana making history as the first woman to contest and win from Lahaul and Spiti in over five decades. Her focus is on improving connectivity, healthcare, and sustainable tourism in the region.

With the successful by-elections, the Congress government now boasts 38 MLAs in the 65-member House, ensuring stability. Upcoming elections in three constituencies will further shape the political landscape of Himachal Pradesh.
