In a recent meeting during the Armenia-US Strategic Dialogue, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan expressed optimism about the potential for a historic peace treaty that could bring lasting peace to the region. The high-level political dialogue between Armenia and the USA is seen as a catalyst for further developing relations based on democratic principles.
Mirzoyan highlighted the Armenian government’s commitment to strengthening democratic values despite challenges, noting the support from the USA in various areas such as defense, technology, justice, and the economy. He emphasized the importance of cooperation in achieving peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
The Foreign Minister also reiterated Armenia’s dedication to normalizing relations with Azerbaijan and establishing a peaceful border based on the Almaty Declaration of 1991. He proposed opening regional communications with a focus on sovereignty, equality, and reciprocity through the Crossroads of Peace initiative.
With both countries working towards a peace treaty, the prospect of long-lasting peace in the region seems promising, presenting a historical opportunity for positive change.
