Pet owners across the nation warned to act following recall spark

Spectrum Brands Pet Care has recently announced a recall of its Pet Fur deShedding Conditioner due to concerns about potential exposure to harmful bacteria for pet owners. The recall was initiated as the product may contain Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a bacteria that can cause infections in humans, particularly those with weakened immune systems or medical devices.

Although no injuries or illnesses related to the recall have been reported, the company received four consumer reports of mold developing inside the conditioner container. The recalled product, sold in one-gallon containers with the UPC number 854460001073, affected approximately 102,000 units in the United States and 250 units in Canada.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled conditioner are advised to stop using it immediately and contact the company for a full refund. They should not dispose of the product down the drain and can visit www.prodprotect.com/recall/FURminator for further instructions on returning the item.

It is important to be vigilant for symptoms of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, which can affect various parts of the body and require antibiotic treatment. Awareness and prompt action can help prevent further spread of the bacteria and ensure the safety of pets and their owners.
