Oman has soared to new heights in aviation safety, securing the fifth position globally and second in the GCC and Middle East region, as per the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) assessment. With an impressive increase in effective implementation compliance index for aviation safety oversight elements, Oman’s success was celebrated during a press conference by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The remarkable achievement is attributed to Oman’s collective efforts and the implementation of the Irtiqaa Programme in 2022, which enhanced the sultanate’s safety oversight system in aviation. The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology’s commitment to transportation safety was emphasized, with a focus on modernizing civil aviation and maritime laws, adhering to international standards, and fostering collaborations.

Highlighting the government’s unwavering support, Capt Majid bin Saif al Barhi underscored the significance of transportation safety in driving economic growth and attracting investments. The recent international conference hosted by the ministry aimed at supporting aviation accident victims showcases Oman’s dedication to maintaining international air safety standards and principles.

Overall, Oman’s commitment to air traffic safety aligns with the goal of ensuring a secure and thriving aviation sector in line with Oman Vision 2040.
