The MK Party, led by former president Jacob Zuma, has extended an invitation to the IFP for discussions on a potential coalition agreement, specifically focusing on the KwaZulu-Natal legislature. While a meeting between the two parties is uncertain, the offer comes just before the legislature’s first sitting.

The MK Party’s secretary-general, Sihle Ngubane, highlighted similarities in political ideologies and interests between the two parties, emphasizing the importance of dignifying the Zulu kingdom, accelerating service delivery, and boosting the province’s economic growth.

This move by the MK Party follows reports that the IFP has been exploring coalition options with other parties. While the IFP’s provincial chairperson, Thami Ntuli, previously dismissed working with the MK Party, IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa has not ruled out potential discussions.

Both parties are urged to prioritize engagement and explore the possibility of collaboration in KwaZulu-Natal. Stay tuned for updates on this developing political landscape.
