Kwara State University appoints new Vice Chancellor

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has appointed Professor Shaykh-Lukman Jimoh as the new Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University. The appointment follows his 19-month service in an acting capacity and his top placement in the screening exercise conducted by the university’s governing council. Professor Shaykh-Lukman previously served as the Acting Vice Chancellor following the death of Professor Mohammed Mustapha-Akanbi in November 2022.

With decades of experience as an administrator and university scholar, Shaykh-Lukman is highly recommended for the role. He has received numerous academic honors and is affiliated with several professional bodies.

In addition to this appointment, Governor AbdulRazaq has approved the transformation of Kwara State College of Education Ilorin into the University of Education to enhance its operational efficiency. This decision aligns with the government’s commitment to revamping education institutions in the state.

The recent establishment of Kwara State University Teaching Hospital and Kwara State University of Education further demonstrates the government’s focus on improving the healthcare and education sectors.
