The Shaboura camp in Rafah, Gaza, home to 40,000 displaced Palestinians, came under intense Israeli military attacks on Wednesday, with reports of ground and air assaults as well as artillery shelling. Palestinian activists took to social media to share that five residential areas were destroyed in the onslaught.

Witnesses reported that Israeli forces used drones and bombed homes in the camp, triggering armed resistance from Palestinian groups. The camp, built by UNRWA after the Nakba of 1948, has faced neglect and lacks proper infrastructure.

Despite an International Court of Justice order to cease attacks, Israel’s military operation in Rafah led to over a million Palestinians fleeing to other parts of Gaza. The impacts of the ongoing conflict have been devastating, with casualties mounting and basic necessities becoming scarce.

As the violence continues, it is crucial to raise awareness about the dire situation in Gaza, where civilians are bearing the brunt of the conflict. The international community must come together to push for a ceasefire and provide humanitarian aid to those affected by the crisis.
