Gyeonggi takes action to prevent leaflet launches in absence of central gov’t measures

A defector group recently launched balloons filled with propaganda leaflets criticizing Kim Jong-un across the North Korean border. Gyeonggi Province, concerned about the lack of government response, has decided to increase surveillance in potential launch areas and may designate them as “danger zones”.

Governor Kim Dong-yeon held an emergency meeting to discuss the escalating tensions and announced plans to crack down on leaflet launches. The province is considering administrative measures and laws to prevent future launches, including fines and police intervention.

Gyeonggi Province’s proactive approach aims to protect residents and prevent further tension on the Korean Peninsula. By enforcing laws and regulations, the province seeks to address the issue of propaganda balloon launches effectively.
