Ex-SAS leader considers running in Victorian election

Mark Wales, a former SAS Major with extensive military experience, is considering standing for the talent-poor Victorian Liberal Party in an upcoming state election.

Wales, who holds an MBA, started his own clothing business, and is a published author, has the potential to bring a unique perspective to politics. He is also a close friend of Andrew Hastie, the shadow defence spokesman in the federal parliament.

With a background that includes military service, business ownership, and media exposure, Wales could be a strong candidate for political office.

‘I don’t feel Victoria takes advantage of its natural resources, and I believe the Liberals can do better in the state.’

Wales, who won preselection for a Liberal seat in WA earlier this year but withdrew due to family reasons, is now considering his options in Victoria.

With concerns about societal divisions and global instability, Wales sees the need for experienced individuals like himself to step into political roles to navigate these challenges.

As the world faces increasing threats, Wales believes that his background could be an asset in shaping effective policies for the state of Victoria and beyond.
