Delegates should insist on Karabakh leaders’ release from Aliyev before COP29.

Jonathan Spangenberg, the president of the Central Council of German-Armenians, took the initiative to raise awareness about the release of military and political leaders of Artsakh and Armenian prisoners in Baku during the Bonn Climate Change Conference in Germany. This conference, with delegates from countries participating in the UN convention, sets the agenda for COP29 in Baku.

Spangenberg organized protests to draw attention to Azerbaijan hosting COP29 as a way to improve its image. Despite facing challenges, the protests aimed to involve delegates and highlight human rights violations in Azerbaijan. The ultimate goal is to have delegates address these issues in their respective countries before the conference in Azerbaijan.

Despite positive responses, Azerbaijani propaganda continues to target the cause. Spangenberg emphasizes the global importance of addressing both climate change and genocide, highlighting ongoing genocidal acts in Artsakh. He urges delegates to demand the release of Artsakh leaders before the conference.
