100 Request Medical Care After Yerevan Protest Clashes

YEREVAN (Sputnik) – The Armenian Health Ministry reported that some 100 people required medical attention following clashes between protesters and police outside the parliament building in Yerevan.

Protesters outside demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, leading to clashes with law enforcement. Despite the use of stun grenades by police, only one person required surgery for a wrist injury, with no other serious injuries reported.

The Armenian Investigative Committee has launched criminal proceedings against the protesters for organizing mass riots and violence against police officers. Additionally, 98 people were detained during the clashes.

Protests in Yerevan began on May 9 against the border delimitation with Azerbaijan and the transfer of border settlements. Led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, demonstrators also called for the prime minister’s resignation.
