Russian Embassy office opens in Banja Luka

Today, Ambassador Igor Kalabuhov and President Milorad Dodik inaugurated the Office of the Russian Embassy in Banja Luka. The ceremony included the singing of the Russian national anthem and raising the flag of the Russian Federation on a six-meter-high flagpole. Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov also addressed the attendees via video link.

To celebrate the opening and Russia Day on June 12, Ambassador Kalabuhov will host a formal reception at the “Bosna” hotel in Banja Luka at 2:00 p.m. This new diplomatic office will serve as an extension of the Russian Embassy in Sarajevo, joining other countries with offices in Banja Luka.

In a significant move, the Russian government accepted the proposal to establish the Office of the Russian Embassy in the Republika Srpska in May 2022. This development marks a closer relationship between Russia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
