Over 50 people were tragically killed and an unknown number kidnapped, including women and children, in a brutal attack on the village of Yargoje in northwest Nigeria. This incident highlights the ongoing insecurity in the region, despite promises from President Bola Tinubu to address the issue.
Residents reported that dozens of gunmen on motorbikes stormed Yargoje in Katsina state, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. One resident, Hassan Ya’u, recounted how his younger brother was among the victims, while another, Abdullahi Yunusa Kankara, described the village as a “death zone” with many homes attacked.
The attack continued into the early hours of the following day, leading to more casualties and abductions. Katsina police authorities have yet to comment on the situation, leaving the community devastated and seeking answers.
This tragic event is just one in a series of attacks and kidnappings plaguing northern Nigeria, adding to the region’s existing challenges of insurgency and communal conflicts. The need for increased security measures and protection of vulnerable communities remains paramount in the face of such senseless violence.
