PPP excluded from Budget 2024 consultation

PPP Expresses Reservations Over Lack of Consultation on Budget 2024-25

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has voiced its concerns over the federal government’s failure to consult with them regarding the upcoming budget 2024-25, set to be presented on Wednesday. Speaking after a parliamentary meeting chaired by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, MNA Shazia Marri stated that the PPP had not been included in budget discussions and their concerns remained unaddressed.

Marri criticized the government for not fulfilling commitments made to the party and ignoring their input on key issues such as agriculture and energy. The PPP demanded a salary increase for government employees, tax reduction, relief packages for industries, and opposed privatization of state-owned enterprises.

The federal government, meanwhile, has assured that the budget aims to alleviate economic challenges and focus on transforming the agriculture sector, promoting IT, and boosting exports. The budget presentation by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, is scheduled for June 12.
