The government has appointed Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi, currently the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, as the next Chief of the Army Staff, effective from June 30. This decision was announced by the Press Trust of India on June 11, 2024.
The current Chief of the Army Staff, General Manoj C Pande, will step down from his position on June 30, making way for Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi to take over.
