Iran’s Bagheri holds talks with Chinese FM at BRICS summit

Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the BRICS conference in Russia. Bagheri expressed appreciation for China’s condolences over the martyrdom of late President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian. He emphasized the deep-rooted and improving relations between Iran and China, highlighting the importance of a fair world order based on multilateralism.

Bagheri stated that Iran and China offer specific solutions through multilateralism, contrasting it with the limitations of unilateralism. He expressed confidence in the bright future of cooperation between the two nations, aiming for stability and security regionally and globally. Furthermore, Bagheri highlighted China’s opposition to unilateralism and the role of organizations like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS in protecting the rights of independent nations.

In response, Wang Yi extended condolences and reiterated China’s support for Iran during challenging times. He praised the efforts of the late Iranian leaders in enhancing bilateral relations and emphasized China’s commitment to the strategic partnership treaty. Wang Yi affirmed China’s readiness to advance ties with Iran and implement the strategic partnership agreement.

The meeting underscored the strong ties between Iran and China, emphasizing mutual support and cooperation for the benefit of both nations and global stability.
