Hezbollah downs Israeli drone – Naharnet

Hezbollah claimed to have shot down an Israeli drone as tensions between the two groups continue to escalate. The Israel military confirmed the downing of the drone, adding to the near-daily cross-border attacks between the two adversaries.

Hezbollah, a Hamas ally, has been engaged in frequent clashes with Israeli forces since the start of the Gaza war last October. The most recent incident involved the shooting down of a Hermes 900 armed drone by Hezbollah fighters using air defense weapons.

The ongoing border skirmishes have resulted in multiple confrontations, including brush fires and targeted strikes by both sides. Hezbollah has intensified its use of drones to target Israeli military positions, while Israel has retaliated with strikes on Hezbollah fighters and their allies.

The clashes have resulted in casualties on both sides, with 459 people killed in Lebanon, mainly fighters, and 15 soldiers and 11 civilians killed in Israel, according to official counts.

The escalating violence has raised concerns about the widening conflict and the potential for further casualties as the two groups continue to engage in hostilities.
