Egypt, Jordan, UN in joint press conference

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, and UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths came together for a joint press conference following the Emergency Humanitarian Response Conference for Gaza held at the Dead Sea, Jordan.

Safadi highlighted the urgency of ending the Israeli occupation to bring an end to the conflict in Palestine. He condemned the ongoing aggression in Gaza as a war crime and called for immediate action to increase aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip.

Shoukry echoed Safadi’s sentiments, emphasizing Egypt’s commitment to achieving a lasting ceasefire in Gaza and the establishment of a Palestinian state. Both ministers denounced the systematic violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza and stressed the importance of humanitarian organizations like UNRWA.

Their unified message called for a ceasefire, an end to aggression, and the reopening of Gaza crossings to ensure the delivery of essential aid. With Jordan pledging support to prevent the displacement of Palestinians, the conference underscored the pressing need for international cooperation to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
