Amosun confronts Abiodun on ex-aides’ benefits.

A former governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, and his successor, Governor Dapo Abiodun, engaged in a war of words over the nonpayment of severance allowances for special assistants who served between 2015 and 2019. Amosun urged Abiodun to focus on governance rather than making excuses.

Amosun’s media office responded to claims by Abiodun’s aide, Kayode Akinmade, stating that the nonpayment was a smear campaign. Abiodun’s aide denied the accusations and shifted blame to Amosun, alleging that the former governor excluded the special assistants from receiving their dues before leaving office.

Amosun defended his actions, citing that he paid the severance benefits of appointees from the previous administration without hesitation. He criticized the present administration’s reluctance to fulfill its obligations, calling for a stop to the blame game and focus on delivering good governance.

Despite the back and forth, the issue remains unresolved, with each party holding firm on their stance. The people of Ogun State await a resolution while hoping for a resolution that prioritizes their well-being.
