Vadym Sukharevskyi, the deputy commander-in-chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, has been appointed as the commander of the newly-created Unmanned Systems Forces. The establishment of this branch aims to enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities through the strategic use of drones.
President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree in February to create this specialized force, emphasizing the importance of surpassing Russia in drone operations by 2024. Sukharevskyi’s new role involves overseeing the development and deployment of drones on the battlefield.
