Raphaël Glucksmann, the Socialists’ lead candidate in the recent European elections, suggested former trade unionist Laurent Berger as a potential prime minister to unite the left for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
French parties are preparing for elections following President Macron dissolving the Assemblée after his coalition’s defeat. The left began talks to explore alliances, with Glucksmann advocating for a clear course and proposing Berger as a responsible choice.
Glucksmann outlined five conditions for forming a new alliance, including support for European integration and rejection of pension reform. He emphasized the need to prevent the RN (far-right) from winning, stating his support for candidates upholding democratic principles.
