The BJP legislature party of Odisha is set to elect the chief minister in a meeting on Tuesday, with the new government taking oath the next day, following the party’s majority win in the assembly elections.
While the possibility of Dharmendra Pradhan taking the top position seems slim, focus now shifts to Suresh Pujari as a potential candidate for CM.
Party in-charge Vijay Pal Singh Tomar confirmed the meeting and oath-taking ceremony, with Rajnath Singh and Bhupendra Yadav overseeing the selection process.
Other contenders for the chief minister’s post include Manmohan Samal, K V Singh, and Mohan Majhi, with the party potentially announcing a surprise candidate as seen in other states.
Plans for a road show with PM Narendra Modi in the state capital ahead of the swearing-in ceremony on June 12 have also been proposed, following the BJP’s impressive performance in the Lok Sabha elections in Odisha.
