Kiev bans state buildings from using AC to conserve power – RT Russia & Former Soviet Union

In response to energy infrastructure damage from Russian airstrikes, the Ukrainian government has implemented measures to prevent mass blackouts by ordering state institutions to limit air conditioning use and switch off outdoor lighting. Prime Minister Denis Shmigal announced the decision, stating that it will remain in effect throughout the summer to save power and avoid widespread outages that have impacted the country in recent months.

Shmigal emphasized the need to reduce energy consumption and encouraged local governments, law enforcement, and businesses to minimize air conditioner use where possible. The government is also urging restrictions on street lighting and signage to conserve power. With estimates suggesting significant damage to Ukraine’s energy facilities, efforts are underway to repair infrastructure and conserve energy, including raising consumer electricity tariffs and considering incentives for citizens to install their own power generation units.

As the country works to address the challenges posed by the damaged energy grid, the government is exploring various strategies to ensure stability and reliability in the power supply for Ukrainian citizens.
