Israel bombs Gaza as Gantz set to resign from government

Israel continued its bombardment of Gaza on Saturday, with a war cabinet minister threatening to quit the government due to mounting pressure over the military campaign. Strikes targeted various areas in the Gaza Strip, including central locations. Despite international scrutiny following an attack on a U.N.-run school that killed 37 people, the onslaught persisted.

Hamas accused Israel of providing false information about the strike, which targeted a Hamas base but allegedly killed civilians. The conflict, now in its ninth month, has caused widespread devastation in Gaza, resulting in a high number of casualties and displaced individuals.

The international community has condemned the violence, with diplomatic isolation growing for Israel. Efforts to mediate a ceasefire have stalled, despite a new roadmap proposed by U.S. President Joe Biden. The situation remains tense as world leaders urge Hamas to accept the plan for a temporary ceasefire.

As the conflict continues, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is set to visit the region in a diplomatic effort to promote peace and address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
