Fadnavis denied NCP’s request for cabinet post; Patel rejects MoS berth

Impact of Maha Yuti Rout in Maharashtra on Cabinet Positions

The aftermath of the Maha Yuti rout in Maharashtra is being felt in the distribution of Cabinet positions. Despite the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) requesting a cabinet minister post, they were not offered one. Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis clarified that NCP was offered a Minister of State (MoS) Independent Charge position, but since Praful Patel was already a minister, he could not hold this post.

Fadnavis reassured that there were no hard feelings about the decision and expressed confidence that in future expansions, NCP would be considered. The MoS Independent Charge position offered to Patel means he would oversee his ministry without a Cabinet Minister above him.

Even though NCP missed out on a cabinet minister post this time, the alliance dynamics played a role in the decision-making process. As political scenarios evolve, it will be interesting to see how cabinet positions are allocated in Maharashtra.
